Chev HeartBeat 2019

Chevalier College’s first-ever HeartBeat Giving Weekend takes place from 10am on Friday 28th June until 12 noon on Sunday 30th June 2009.

Our students and families support many great causes and will be doing so this weekend with the St Vincent de Paul Hamper Drive and the Mission Concert. This week also concludes the Ration Challenge which saw Chevalier College students top the national tally with funds raised exceeding $26,000. HeartBeat2019 in turn gives a once-a-year chance for the whole Chev community to directly support the school, so we can go on producing these wonderful students who are so ready to make a positive difference to our world.

The 50 hour campaign aims to raise at least $200,000 so a huge ask for help is being made to our Chevalier community – past and present. The good news is that donations during the 50 hours will be multiplied by 4, thanks to the generosity of our matching donors. The way it works is that each dollar donated by our community triggers another $3 contribution from our matching donors : $10 therefore generates $40 in total, $50 generates $200 and so on. Every bit helps our drive towards the $200,000+ target.

The challenge facing us, however, is that we can’t guarantee any donations will be activated unless we achieve our target of $200,000. So it is ALL OR NOTHING to make the 12 noon Sunday deadline before the 50 hours is up.

All donations over $2 are tax deductible. The gifts can be directed to our Building Fund, to help maintain existing buildings or construct new ones, like our new Performing Arts Centre and Multi-Purpose Hall. Or they can be given to our Charitable Support Fund, to help endow the Br Dave Merrick Memorial Bursary and the Chris Topp Memorial Bursary. These perpetual bursaries will support students and families who can’t otherwise afford the fees and allow children to attend Chev.

If you would like to make a 3-5 year pledge to sponsor a theatre seat in the new Performing Arts Centre ($1,500) please contact Paul McShane – Manager of the Community Liaison & Development Office or email

Whether or not you able to help with a donation, please spread the word about our HeartBeat campaign to your contacts and social media networks. We don’t know who might be out there who can make that special gift.

Thanks in anticipation for your support.
